Theorising and discussion on Extra terrestial life
OK, I finally figured what I could put in here, lets hope people join the convo!
Now many people assume that ET would look somewhat like life here on earth but that couldn't be farther from the truth, you see every planet is different and life could look so different we wouldn't recognize it as life at a single glance!
so lets start with potential biology!
here on earth carbon based life has evolved and this is still a very likely scenario which in most cases requires water! carbon and water both being very abundant, however this is not the only case.
you see it is understood now that life's base molecular systems has to be soluble, for instance carbon is water soluble, carbon is also soluble with other liquids so water is not a requirement for carbon based life however it is substance most likely to create carbon based life due to it's abundance. another liquid carbon dilutes in is ammonia thus a planet with abundant ammonia could also create carbon based life though that life would find earth rather poisonous, as we would find their world rather poisonous.
Carbon is also not the only liquid soluble substance, silicon for instance is another good possibility for creating life though is rare as far as we know, thus carbon is more likely.
life also tends to evolved based on it's environment, for instance every factor in earths history had to occur for life to end up as it is now! if one thing were different say we had a different star or maybe a different atmospheric composition we could end up as blue skinned people with bug eyes and 6 appendages or something.
thus life could really look like anything! take the octopus for example, due to it's environment it can blend in and look like a rock or the sand however do not consider it dumb, it is in fact highly intelligent only it has adapted to it's environment and hasn't the need for technology.
it is likely that any planets we find with the possibility for life would in decreasing order be Bacteria, plant, animal, and finally Intelligent, of course to find "Intelligent" life it would have to not blow it's self up with it's version of technology before we get there!
due to all these factors it is likely that A: Life would look nothing like anything on earth. B: it will most likely be a planet with bacteria plants and possibly animal life. and C: we will more likely find tribal civilizations or ruins if or when we do come upon "Intelligent life" though these ruins or tribes would be hard to recognize upon first glance because technology probably developed similarly but radically differently as well!
please continue discussing this ^_^ I would like to hear everyone's opinions!
