LEGO Mindstroms, construct-your-robot kit Empty LEGO Mindstroms, construct-your-robot kit

Post by Lot Creator Tue Mar 15, 2011 9:17 pm

I had my Mindstorms for a while now and it is cool for a toy that can be constructed in any way. I have made around 8 projects, none of which are perfect the first time.
I also have to make the program, sometimes it goes way off limits or very short. It can be built into four machines but I have decided to go custom-made. Some drawbacks of going custom is the fact that some pieces are not the quite you wish. Also, since it is made by hand, there are no instructions for back-up if you wish to make it again. There are two ways to save it however, by saving the way of making it, by drawing in your mind the method down to the last brick the assembly. The second way is to use the LDS (Lego design software), it is free, and it is up to date.

Best luck on it!

LEGO Mindstroms, construct-your-robot kit Empty LEGO Mindstroms, construct-your-robot kit P2 (the buggy)

Post by Lot Creator Sun Mar 20, 2011 8:16 pm

Hello there, I have come back after 4 days of continue in the Mindstroms project. So far, I created a buggy, a robot hand, and a transmition which fits none. I will explain my buggy and will show you pic when i am ready to have them. Very Happy
My buggy:
Sorry I have no pics now, been working mostly, mostly to reserch new ways to make lighter, faster, and more dexturus machines. The first model of the buggy, roughtly three months old (now upgraded), was smaller but very unefficient, the turning wheel grinded too much and the driving wheel system also grinded often, the system used was a bunch of gears, a rubber band and many reniforcements. In the end, about this week, I upgraded it. The new model now uses a system used in cars to move Arrow , this system does not grind at all, it also moves faster since the power now comes from the motor directly. It has a speed of 1/2 foot per second, which is actually faster than the old one. I have also upgraded the drive system, it now grind less and uses a more confortable way of driving. I am also tring to add the last motor, but using the last motor would be useless, since a buggy is just a vehicle. One drawback on the new buggy is the size of it, it is about 1 foot with 3 in to 4 in, it is not very high nor wide. But not wide enough to fall clumsily on each side. It also has a slight problem in the program, but well, new programs are not perfect ones. I had made a error in it also, instead of turning and go, it goes and truns later on! I fixed it but I had made a turing error! I have also made a test program to make sure I had the correct turing timing. It weights about 2/5 pounds now, for I had made a modification to make it lighter. I might have skimed half a pound or less, but for that, it runs a bit faster. That is all for now, be wary for updates!

Building as always!
